Power plants

The Air handling units for Nuclear Power Plants are designed and manufactured to guarantee 40 years of lifespan. All the AHUs are designed and engineered with the newest FEM and CFD softwares. Machines of this type undergo the following tests:

  • thermic ageing;
  • vibration ageing;
  • seismic tests with operation trials before, during and after them.

The N.P.P. Air handling units are suitable for safety related application up to Class III Seismic Category 1a and can operate before, during and after the accident event. Design and manufacture is performed according to the following standards:

  • ASME N509
  • ASME N510
  • ASME Section III
  • ASME Section VIII
  • AMCA210
  • ASME AG-1 standard

The units are qualified in accordance with:

  • ASME QME-1-2007: Qualification of Active Mechanical Equipment Used in Nuclear Power Plants
  • IEC 980: Recommended practices for seismic qualification of electrical equipment of the safety system for nuclear generating stations
  • IEEE 323-2003: IEEE Standard for Qualifying Class 1E Equipment for Nuclear Power Generating Stations
  • IEEE 344-2004: Recommended Practice for Seismic Qualification of Class 1E Equipment for Nuclear Power Generating Stations
